INITIATE.MY is partnering with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to support former security detainees (FSDs) and their families in the Aftercare Assistance Programme.

We invite potential partners and donors who can provide employment opportunities, financial aid, or mental health services – to facilitate their successful reintegration into society.

INITIATE.MY has published a Policy Brief on ‘Reintegrating Former Security Detainees in Malaysia: The Challenges & Opportunities’ that was produced by engaging with more than 200 stakeholders from public, private and civil society sectors in Malaysia .

You can access the policy brief below.

Many FSDs and their families face significant challenges after release, including financial instability, social stigma, and difficulties in securing employment. Without proper support, the risk of reoffending increases. Your contribution can help:

  • Provide emergency financial relief for families in need.
  • Reduce the risk of recidivism among former detainees.
  • Support better reintegration in a bigger society
  • Promote circular economy where all contribute
