About Us

We work in collaboration with United Nations agencies, government institutions, law enforcement, civil society organisations, tech companies and youth networks to tackle some of the region’s most pressing peace and security issues.

Who are we

The Initiative to Promote Tolerance and Prevent Violence (INITIATE.MY) is a think-and-do organisation dedicated to addressing peace and security challenges—including violent extremism, conflict and crime—through a combination of policy engagement and community-level initiatives.

What we believe

  • Peace and security must be a whole-of-government and whole-of-society effort.

Collaboration across sectors: public, private and civil society, is essential to create sustainable impact.

  • Peace must centre on human security

not only state security—to ensure dignity, justice, inclusive development and protection for all individuals and communities, particularly within the Global South, enabling meaningful social and economic participation.

  • Technology and AI

should be leveraged to promote positive values, inclusion, and safety and must be developed and deployed with transparency and accountability.

Freedom of Religion and Belief (FoRB)

What we do

We conduct research and disseminate datato inform evidence-based policymaking and strengthen community-level advocacy.

We facilitate Track 1.5 engagements through closed door consultations, roundtable discussions, and capacity-building workshops, enabling dialogue between state and non-state actors.

We build social resilience by empowering youth and intellectual communities to lead in promoting tolerance, inclusion and democratic values.

Areas of Work

Peacebuilding

We strengthen social cohesion and promote peaceful coexistence across diverse communities in both digital and physical spaces. Through dialogue, prevention and education, we work to reduce polarisation, protect freedom of religion and belief and counter hate, discrimination and intolerance

Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) / Counterterrorism (CT)

We develop evidence-based strategies to prevent radicalisation, disrupt extremist networks and support rehabilitation and reintegration. We connect policy, research and frontline practice to improve sustainable security outcomes.

Transnational Crime

We analyse and respond to cross-border criminal activities that exploit governance and technological gaps. Our work supports stronger enforcement coordination, regional cooperation, and protection for affected communities.
