She is a Criminologist and the Deputy Dean of Higher Degree at the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. She was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1997 and has extensive experience in criminal and civil litigation. She used to be a Partner of a legal firm known as Lokman Reena & Co situated in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur. Dr. Haezreena obtained her PhD in Criminology from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand and her LLM in International Human Rights Law from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws Degree and Diploma in Sharia Law and Practice from the International Islamic University of Malaysia. Dr. Haezreena’s research interests range over a number of different subject areas including criminological theories, human trafficking, victimisation, cyberviolence, sexual crimes, gender, policing, smuggling, migration, human rights, and international crimes. She has written numerous articles on the nuances of victimisation, sexual violence, human trafficking, and other criminal justice issues. Her works are often cited and referred to by local and international NGOs, as well as government agencies.
